Capes and collars for batman costumes on Halloween

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

Here are a few ideas on how you could adapt a cape for use on your batman costume and wear it on Halloweens eve. Get some sheets curtains or fabric from your local store. Perhaps in a fabric that you feel would add to the effect. Run a hem round edges of the fabric to finish it off properly.

Leave the end of one edge open becuse we are going to run a cord through that seam. We can draw this a little to form the cape.

For a soft collar that falls over your shoulders the hem is going to have to be 5 or 6 inches wide. Now sew a second seam one inch below and use that fro your draw string

To add the effect of mud spattering, mix together good mud colours such as brown black and red.
Use a damp sponge to dampen where you are going to add the mud spatterings effect.
Now dip the sponge in your mud paint and apply it o these damp areas. It will run a  little but this will add to the effect when it finally dries.

An extra effect you can use with the mud paitn ios to dilute the mud paint with water and then dip in a wet paint bruchs. Now flick this all over your fanric to give the effect of dried blood.

Avoid using acrylic paint on fabrics because it will stiffen too much. Use instead fabric paints, which will remain soft.

Moriarty Halloween party game

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

No need to spend on elaborate Halloween costumes this season. For this Halloween party game you will need newspapers and blindfolds. If your guests are too easily frightened then this game would not be suitable for your party. As you will know, Moriarty is from the Sherlock Holmes novels and our professor will be re-enacting people’s life and death struggles at Reichenbauch, via role play.

We will not be having Holmes and Moriarty attacking each other with rolled up editions of the Workers Press.

Our game will take place between 2 players with other party members willing them on from the sidelines. Both our players are blindfolded and lie face down on the floor each holding the others left wrist. In their right hand they will hold a rolled up newspaper.

The game starts by one contestant saying “Are you there Moriarty?” The other replies “yes”, and the asking person has 1 attempt to hit him with the newspaper. Our 2nd player has a chance to slither away, before the swipe lands on him. If he is caught by the newspaper, the game is won and he loses. If the strike misses, it is the turn of the 2nd player to ask the question. As each contest ends, others from the party take a turn. It is a rowdy game and quite physical, but in the end, harmless, and it will certainly raise the temperature of your Halloween gathering.

CONSEQUENCES

One of the most popular witch halloween games is certainly “Consequences”;
it is a very old favorite, but has lost none of its charms with age.
The players sit in a circle; each person is provided with a half sheet
of notepaper and a pencil, and is asked to write on the top–(i) one
or more adjectives, then to fold the paper over, so that what has been
written cannot be seen.

Every player has to pass his or her paper on
to the right-hand neighbor, and all have then to write on the top of
the paper which has been passed by the left-hand neighbor (2) “the
name of the gentleman”; after having done this the paper must again be
folded and passed on as before; this time must be written (3) one or
more adjectives; then

(4) a lady’s name; next (5), where they met;
next

(6), what he gave her; next

(7), what he said to her; next (8),
what she said to him; next (9), the consequence; and lastly (10), what
the world said about it. Be careful that every time anything has been
written the paper is folded down and passed on to the player on your
right.

When every one has written what the world says, the papers are
collected and one of the company proceeds to read out the various
papers, and the result may be somewhat like this:–

(1) The horrifying and delightful (2) Mr. Brown

(3) met the charming
(4) Miss Phillips (5) in Westminster Abbey;

(6) he gave her a flower

(7) and said to her: “How’s your mother?”

(8) She said to him: “Not
for Joseph;”

(9) the consequence was they danced the hornpipe, and the
world said:

(10) “Just what we expected.”
