"It is not who I am, but what I do that defines me." This one liner is given to Rachel Dawes by Batman and the story takes shape in the darkness that has been haunting Gotham City for some time.

Our superhero Batman is different to other famous characters of DC Comics and Marvel Comics. Batman is about Bruce Wayne's struggle with the fear that keeps him awake, and how his parents wewre killed by a Gotham City street criminal. Unlike what you might have been led to believe, Batman is not driven by revenge, but by the desire to deliver justice. However, Batman is indeed out to rid society, and the streets of Gotham City, of any conceivable evil.

It is a gripping story of someone who lives two different lives. Bruce Wayne is the heir to the Wayne dynasty, the super-rich and talented philanthropist. His other personae is Batman, who fights crime in the depths of the night. With assistance from Alfred Pennyworth, his family's butler, he has been a source of encouragement for those who have learnt to fight their deepest fears.

Batman made his first appearance in May, 1939, and he stands apart (back then and even now), from others like Superman or Spider-man, in that he has no super powers. It is for this reason people have been able to relate to him for over 60 years. He is as much flesh and bone as your next door neighbor and all he has is a high level of intellect , martial arts training that includes shadow fighting, and great toys like the Batmobile, Bat signal and his utility belt. One of the greatest characteristics of Bruce Wayne is that he is a super detective and can vanish with great skill.

Heroes are made larger by powerful villains and Batman has fought many. But the greatest would have to be the Joker, being played by Heath Ledger in the film - Batman: The Dark Knight, also played by Jack Nicholson.
It is no surprise that the cult has created a wold of merchandise includung the batman costume. This has now evolved over the years to cater for men as well as childrem . In particular, the muscle pack bears a strinking resemblance to our character. No wonder men are tempted to wear it to thier planned costume party, be that Halloween or other event.
